Is it a total waste if you still have a spinning hard drive? Upgrading RAM on MacBook Pro. However, as it concerns the memory, I've done a ton of research lately but it's gotten to the point where I'm frustrated enough to seek advice/recommendations on what 16gb ram I should purchase. I had 3xxMB video ram when i had 4GB RAM.. Now I've 512MB video ram with 10GB RAM. Memory available to Mac OS X may vary depending on graphics needs. but when running my original 2x4GB Ram it saw both completely fine. Then clean out as much junk you can. I would also look at either swapping out the HD to a big SSD (1 or 2 TB) if you can afford it.
